|Corporate Executive Board Presents ''Crisis or Opportunity: Leading Through a Down Economy''|
Dr. Alan Greenspan anchors Corporate Executive Board's first-ever
cross-disciplinary conference in Chicago May 12-13
WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 8, 2008--The Corporate Executive Board Company (NASDAQ: EXBD) will present a conference titled "Crisis or Opportunity: Leading Through a Down Economy" featuring a keynote conversation session with Dr. Alan Greenspan, Chairman, Federal Reserve (1987 - 2006), May 12-13 in Chicago.
This conference is the first time The Corporate Executive Board (CEB) has invited members from the various disciplines it serves - including human resources, sales and marketing and corporate finance - to come together and examine an urgent issue facing all facets of business today.
"Having relationships with more than 80% of the Fortune 500, and more than 15,000 C-level executives, has positioned our company to consistently bring unique insight to the challenges faced by key executives and their teams in HR, Finance, IT, etc.," said Tom Monahan, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CEB. "Increasingly, we have realized that there is real value in helping these executives diagnose and close gaps between key functions within their organizations. This is all the more important in the current challenging economic environment."
The conference will feature focused sessions and roundtables covering the best practices and strategies essential to win in a downturn presented by key executives from some of the world's leading organizations including Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Caterpillar, Lafarge, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric, and others. Dr. Greenspan's conversation will be moderated by Monahan. This session will provide attendees with a special opportunity to hear first-hand the former Federal Reserve chairman's insights about corporate decision-making in a changing economy. Dr. Greenspan's session is not open to the media.
Also at the conference, Derek van Bever, CEB's Chief Research Officer, will debut his new book, Stall Points: Most Companies Stop Growing - Yours Doesn't Have To. Featured in the March 2008 edition of the Harvard Business Review, this book provides additional insight into growth potential regardless of the economy. At one session at the conference, van Bever will present an overview of the findings in his book. Rhonda Sebastian, Vice President, Organizational and Management Development for SENCORP, described the conference as, "the core event for our annual executive retreat. The agenda provides rich content on a variety of topics that challenge us in this rapidly changing global economy. Each team member will bring at least one business critical issue to the conference which will become the focus of learning, discussion and action planning over the two day retreat. Having attended other CEB conferences, I have no doubt our thinking will be stretched and we will leave Chicago with new perspectives to consider in setting the competitive agenda for our business."
